Here is the definition of white from the www.dictionary.com

From this page I have found how there are many different meanings to ‘white’, such as the physical colour which contrasts from black. However, a light/pale colour can appear white next to a darker colour; I would like to explore this concept further .
The colour white symbolises many things. It can create emotions such as: purity, virtue, innocence and delicacy. The colour white can also create phycological effects such as: creating a sensation of balance, calmness Renovation (promoting feelings of fresh beginnings), purity and clarity.
White has both positive and negative effects. This table below compares these positives and negative effects of the colour.
positive - simplicity
- cleanliness
- elegance
- goodness
Negative - bland - Coldness - unfriendliness - emptiness
Although symbolising colours is mainly from phycological triggers, it can also come from personal memories and experiences. Not only that but the way individuals view the colour can be based on what they mean in different cultures, for example with the colour white: In western cultures, white symbolises purity, peace, cleanliness, and virginity, which is why most brides wear white on their wedding day. - With all of these symbols combined an angelic, pure and innocent feeling is created
In Eastern cultures, white symbolises mourning, the passage to a new life, and bad luck.
- Therefore, the colour white has negative connotations.
In India, widows are traditionally only allowed to wear white.
- Subsequently creating a feeling of fragility, and strength.
In Brazil, it represents peace and purity and is traditionally worn on new year eve. - This will make the colour white feel as though it is a celebratory and joyful colour.
In Peru, white is related to good health and angels
- As a result, creating a spiritual and positive feeling
White is also highly associated with healthcare as it is used to show cleanliness and safety. These areas of healthcare include most hospitals, optician, dentists, pharmacies and medical centres.
White is also used in room interiors as it creates a sense of organisation and creates the illusion of more space as it reflects light rather than absorbing it 9 the colour black does). However sometimes this can be dependent of the tone of white and the phycological effect it has upon the audience.
