Mural day 1

Today I went to See the wall with the group of people I am completing the task with.

We first used a measuring tape to work out how big The margins at the top and the bottom of the wall would be. The inside measurement was 1.62 m, this was marked with a straight line using chalk. We then used the 1.62 m line going down and measured the exact same measurement perpendicular from the top and bottom points of the original line. Finally I marked a straight, perpendicular line coming off these paints so they meet, subsequently creating a square.

We did this all along the wall, back to back to see how many we could fit in. This was 16 squares. we then realised as soon as we paint the panel white we would loose these markings so used the chalk to make a mark going into the margin which shows where each section ends once painted.

We then worked in pairs, one of us had a roller and used the white emulsion paint to cover the wall and the other one used a paintbrush, with the same paint to fill in the gaps the roller couldn’t get to, such as the areas of brick which had crumbled away.

Once that had dried we used the markings which we led into the margin and using chalk remarked them. We then marked The border by using the width of a piece of wood provided all the way around the inside of the block.
