In patterncutting I learnt how to move french darts.
Moving French darts is Helpful when the normal darts on the bodice don’t fit with the design idea.
By moving the french darts you are also able to chance the shape of the new dart which is wanted. For example you can make it curved or change direction.
here is what the step by step process of moving the a french dart looks like.

to make french darts you draw where you want your new dart to be located, making sure the end points meet in the middle. Then cut this line and close the 2 existing ones. Re draw this mini block however mark the bust point 1.5cm from the original bust point then finally add seam allowance.
This is a mini block so i added 0.5cm however on a full size block this would be 1.5cm
This design is where the dart has been into the neck.

I then made some designs inspired by my artists piece i am studying. this is seen through the cureved lines

this design above is my favourite design as it has curved darts which face different directions.
