Discussing which technique to use to print my skirt fabric.

When thinking of ways to produce a repetitive pattern on fabric some ideas I had were to-

- Painting. This would allow me to create a flowing pattern easily, however the design may not be repetitive which doesn’t reflect my brief well. - Block print. this would allow me to repeate the same pattern over and over. however the negative aspects of this is that the polystyrene board can be easily damaged by being scraped with a nail or snapped.

- I could lino cut. This would allow me to also make a repetitive pattern however unlike then block printing it will not snap or mark easil.

- Transfer printing works well as it transfers a digital image onto fabric, however this only works on pieces which are a4 and under withoit having splits between sheets.

- Free machine embroidery can create patterns which glow into one anoyher well. This can also be affective if there is Wooding underneath to create a quilted effect. Personally I do not think this is a appropriate technique to use for this project as it is hard to make identical patterns to one another.

- My final Final idea is to send my digital design to a company which can print this for me. This is the most effective and would link to liberties best however it can be very expensive.

Overall for my design i have decided I will lino print. This is because I like how it can produce detailed designs that can be applied as a repetitive pattern.
