In photography holly set us the task of creating a hat inspired by natur forms.
We were then put into partners to develop our initial ideas. My partner is Lizzy Legg.
We started with the idea of creating a hat inspired by weather and decided on the theme of a cloud, as we thought it would be interesting to photograph outside and have a different feeling depending on the weather. For example if it is sunny and clear, blue sky it will stand out however if it is stormy it will blend into the background.
We then decided we needed a artists work to be reflected within this hat. The artist we researched was Gareth pugh. when studying his work we noticed instantly that he used lots of contrasting colours such as black and white as well as the shapes of his designs were unique and large. Not only that but alot of his garments he designed have elements which cover the models faces.
From this research we edited our design so that it our cloud would not just white, it then included pieces of contrasting black materials which were weaves and wrapped around the chould; we decided to also make one side larger and stick out at one edge to reflect his style of shape, and finally we have decided to make it cover the face more and have different elements hanging down from the main object. these hanging elements also give the illusion of rain.

This is our final design above.
As you can see there is a large amount of volume on one side aswell as we have tried to include as many different textures that we can whilst keeping the concept of a ‘cloud in mind’
